Say hello to your new BFF Sammy Brush!
This beautiful litter of puppies is 2 females (Scarlett, Timberlina) and 6 males (Popeye, Sammy, Blaze, Blue, Frankie, Russ), and based off the appearance of the mom (40 lbs) we are thinking they are a Bluetick coonhound mix and expected to be about medium dogs when fully grown. They are currently living in a foster home with a young adult couple, young children and other dogs and are doing well with a mix of kenneling and home integration to work on their socialization.

Being young puppies they'll have so much to learn like house, crate, leash, and obedience training, but with some patience and consistency (and a pocket full of treats) we think these guys and gals will pick up good manners in no time since they are eager to please! They are playful, affectionate, outgoing and you may hear them bark while playing. So far they appear to ride well and remain calm when crated in the car. These pups looove toys whether its squeaky or chew toys but also enjoy games of wrestling and chase, followed by some quality cuddle time.

Think Sammy Brush is the apply of your eye? Don't wait to apply to adopt him today!

Brush litter backstory: M om Shadow Brush was found as a very thin stray a couple months ago after she had just had puppies in/under a brush pile near the highway.  She was seen by a good samaritan as she was being fed scraps by a road construction crew.  The good samaritans made several trips to collect all of the litter out from the brush, and are now fostering the mom and puppies until they are ready to travel north.

Medical Note: A littermate of this dog tested positive and was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. This dog has also been preventatively treated and currently shows no symptoms of demodectic mange. Please note that demodex can have a hereditary component and/or flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a personal or family history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
