Sadie Rose is a sweet, outgoing young dog. She is intelligent and gentle, and loves other dogs and any human she meets, although she hasn't met any cats or small animals yet! Sadie can feel a little anxious at new places and may drool a little in the car, but she loves walks (and is great on a leash!) and puppy playgroups. Sadie does best when people are home and she likes to nap on the couch or carpet and sleeps through the night, but she does seem to have a little separation anxiety when left alone. Sadie will escape crates (both wire and plastic) when left alone and, when left outside alone, has escaped over a 4-foot fence, though she came home when called. Sadie does great on a leash and hasn't had any accidents in her foster home, though she does beg for table food. She will need time to acclimate to a new home and recommend that she only be left loose in the home for short periods. She may benefit from another well-balanced dog in the home to show her the ropes of living in her new household and be a buddy for her to play with.
We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, and it also helps to strengthen that ever- important bond between the dog and her human family. It’s lots of fun, too! A well-mannered, obedient dog will be welcomed most anywhere you take her. Adopters should plan to spend plenty of time playing with your new dog, training her in basic commands, tricks, and skills like leash-, crate-, and house training, socializing them with new situations and dogs, and giving them plenty of free play and working play (like pack walks). A tired dog is a happy dog.
Though a fenced yard is an ideal place for your pup to romp and play safely, if that’s not an option then lots of daily leash walks and opportunities to play off-leash in a dog park is the next best thing. Dogs of all ages also benefit from mental stimulation – think puzzle toys and games.
Sadie is a happy girl who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make her dream come true? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family!
