No need to chew it over, Eclipse Gum will make the perfect companion!
This outgoing and playful girl can't wait to meet you. We aren't quite sure what she is a mix of, but we do know she is super cute and fun!
Eclipse has been in New England for several weeks now and has settled right into her foster family. She is calm in her crate for up to 6 hours and is making great progress with housetraining. She is learning to walk on the leash and is doing great, but still needs a little more practice - the world is an exciting place! Eclipse is friendly with everyone she meets and is gentle with kids she has met but currently doesn't live with children. She loves other dogs, and we don't yet know how she is with cats but there are fenced chickens in her foster home and she is doing well coexisting with them. Eclipse is a rough and tumble kind of girl with other dogs and would LOVE to have a doggie sibling as long as they are playful and tolerant.
Puppies are living, breathing creatures who are changing on a daily basis as they learn about and explore this great big world. SOS asks our adopters to be committed to working with a positive-only professional dog trainer to help them help their pup develop into their best adult self. There are many options for puppy socialization and learning, including private classes, group classes, virtual training, puppy playtime groups, day camp, day trips, and more! Please ask your Adoption Counselor about the many resources available to support you and your new pup!
Is Eclipse making you sing "I'm stuck on you" - if so, don't wait to apply to adopt Eclipse Gum today!
Gum Litter Backstory: The Gum mom was a pregnant stray in Arkansas, taken in by a family who reached out to our southern rescue partner for help rehoming Eclipse and her brothers and sisters.
Medical Note: A littermate of this dog tested positive and was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. This dog has also been preventatively treated and currently shows no symptoms of demodectic mange. Please note that demodex can have a hereditary component and/or flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a personal or family history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.
An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this.
To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: www.sosarl.org/aa/
**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
