Everyone has a favorite kind of cracker - ours just happens to be...puppies!
The Cracker girls are sure to become your favorite kind, too! These little sweethearts are outgoing and friendly, responsive to correction, and quick learners. Crate and potty training are in the works, leash training has not yet begun - right now it's more about playing, eating, and sleeping all day, every day! Enrolling in puppy obedience classes with their new hooman(s) will be an important step in continuing their socialization with new people and dogs, confidence building and learning basic commands. In their current southern foster home, they interact well, under supervision, with the resident dog and school-aged children. They have not been exposed to younger kids or kitty cats. They have been crated when transported in the car and were calm. They're not overly "barky" pups but are vocal while playing. Mom appears to be some type of Shepherd mix, maybe Australian or German Shepherd. She is about 50 lbs., so these girls may end up being on the large end of medium sized.

Nala Cracker is one of the five girls in this litter. She has a beautiful sable coat and extra cute pointy ears! Are you able to make that commitment of time, energy and patience that's needed to raise a puppy? It's not an easy job, but Nala promises she'll be worth all that effort! Fill out an application today and let her know you totally agree!

Cracker Puppies Backstory: The owner contacted our Arkansas rescue partner for help with puppies and possibly other dogs - exact number was unclear. These five puppies were outside before cold weather and not in the best of circumstances. It was arranged for immediate move into foster. The puppies were thin, dehydrated and no doubt would not have survived the looming winter storm where they were. They have been thriving in foster, have quickly gained weight, and began using the litter box with alfalfa pellets almost immediately.

Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
