Oakley Forest *LOCAL* needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?

This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. How can you resist that scruffy face!?! This litter of three pups is one male (Oakley) and two females (Maple and Willow). The pups are from an unplanned litter of a stray dog found dumped on the side of a road in Arkansas. His sisters have found their forever homes, now it's Oakley's turn for happiness. Oakley upon arrival in New England was very shy and hesitant but has really made a lot of progress in his new foster home. He is friendly with everyone he meets. In a previous foster home, he lived with a toddler and preschool ages twins and was great with them but currently does not live with kids. He loves other dogs and would do great at your one-and-only or as an addition to other family dogs. We don't yet know how he is with cats. Oakley loves to play; whether it be with a squeaky or chew toy but is also happy to be a lap dog and snuggle up on the couch as he is pretty affectionate. His preferred play styles are chase, bitey-mouth, and wrestling; although he is mostly quiet you may hear him bark while playing. Given his eagerness to please and intelligence, he has a great foundation for training and should develop into a great family dog! He is house trained and is almost fully create trained - he barks at first, then settles in. He is a pretty good walking on a leash especially in a pack. W e strongly recommend that all our dogs - and especially puppies - attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, and it also helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and his human family. The mother of this dog tested positive and was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. This dog currently shows no symptoms of demodectic mange. Please note that demodex can have a hereditary component and/or flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a personal or family history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption or until 18 months of age.
