Willie Luckenbach is available for adoption to Massachusetts residents, as well as those in the other New England states.
This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.
They may have been named after musical outlaws, but Waylon and Willie are lovers, not fighters! They live in an active home with adults, school-aged kids, and other dogs and get along with everyone. They have not been introduced to very young children, cats, or small animals, so we’re not sure how they would do with them.
Willie is playful and eager to please. He responds well to corrections, is interested in checking out new places, and rides well when crated in a car.
He sometimes barks while playing because he’s having such a good time! His foster family describes him as even-tempered, affectionate, outgoing, and goofy.
Willie loves to play with squeaky and chew toys. He also likes to wrestle with his doggy friends and play tug-of-war. An hour or two of activity a day would make him happy, then he will be ready to cuddle on your lap and soak up some love.
He is crate trained and house training is in progress.
We recommend training for Willie, to help him perfect his manners and form a stronger bond with his humans.
He needs an adopter who is committed to keeping his world small until he starts to settle in. The adopter should plan to limit visitors to his home, leave the dog at home (crated – not loose!) rather than taking him to parties, soccer games, dog parks, etc, and focus on building a bond through structure and moderate obedience training.
This is one little gem of a pup!
An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
