Meet the Woodland Pups!
Introducing Owl! She is an adorable little girl who is looking for a forever home along with her sisters Bunny, Squirrel, Groundhog, and Beaver, and brothers Chipmunk and Bear (also available on SOS). These precious pups appear to be a Chihuahua and Terrier mix. Tiny-breed dogs are often not a good fit for households with multiple and/or young children – potential adopters with young children should keep this in mind.
The pups are friendly with everyone they meet including teens, but we don’t yet know how they are with little kids. They are playful with other dogs and are curious about cats in a playful way.
Being just puppies, they will have so much to learn! They'll need house training, crate training and will need to learn to walk on a leash. We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog.
The Woodland pups are pretty quiet, but you might hear them bark when playing. They love toys and are happy to chill with a ball when not playing with you!
Owl would love to find a forever family that has lots of time and patience to raise a puppy properly, and who has lots of extra time for loving and cuddles. If you are looking for a puppy, Owl, or one of her littermates may be perfect for you! Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family!
Woodland pup’s story: They were found abandoned in a field at two days of age with their mom Foxie. Mom and pups were taken to a nearby Animal Shelter and are now living with a loving foster family and doing great!
Medical Note: This dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. The dog has responded well to this treatment and is ready for adoption, though may still have some bald patches and/or thin fur in places. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange, and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history.
An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see
HERE
for more information about this.

*Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
