You’ll get your kicks with the Route 66 pups!

These playful puppies can’t wait to meet you. We are thinking they are a Rhodesian Ridgeback and Lab mix. There are eight little ones in the litter, 6 beautiful girls and 2 handsome boys. They are named after cities along the famous Route 66 which runs from Chicago to Los Angeles.

These are typical puppies with typical puppy behavior - like chewing on stuff, playing with each other, playing with toys, playing with people and just playing in general!

As the pups are so young, they haven’t started on potty, crate, and leash training but think they will pick up these skills quickly as they seem very smart. They are playful with other dogs and kids, but we don’t yet know how they are with cats. They love toys and are happy to chill with a ball when not playing with you!  So far, these pups are pretty quiet, but you might hear them bark when playing.

The pups are eager to please, toy and treat motivated little squirts, so puppy training classes will be lots of fun!

Winslow would love to find a forever family that has lots of time and patience to raise a puppy properly, and who has lots of extra time for loving and cuddles. If you are looking for a puppy, Winslow, or one of his littermates may be perfect for you! Fill out an application today and let him know that you'd love to have him join your family!

Route 66 pup’s story: The litter was accidental. The owner was an elderly woman caring for her disabled son. She was caring for the pups inside her home but once they started growing, she realized they were too much for her to care for and reached out to a loving rescue to assist in finding them good homes.

Medical Note: A littermate of this dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. As there is thought to potentially be a genetic component to predisposition to this condition, this dog has been preventatively treated though does not currently show any bald patches and/or thin fur in places.  Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies.  Please see here for more information on demodectic mange and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition.  Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history.

An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see  HERE  for more information about this.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or  breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
