In another Galaxy far, far away a litter of puppies came into being!
Well, okay, it was actually in Arkansas, and it was an unplanned litter of ten of out-of-this-world-cuteness: the Star Wars puppies! All of them are typical active and playful pups. They love toys (squeaky and chew), wrestling, playing chase, and cuddling in a convenient lap. They have done well with adults, the two school-age children in the foster home and the other dogs in the foster home, as well as those they've met outside of the home. They have not been introduced to kitty cats. Like most puppies they can be quite boisterous while playing. Walking on leash has not yet begun. They will definitely need help to continue honing these skills as well as attending puppy school to start work on basic commands.
R2D2 is one of the seven boys and is a yummy chocolate brown with caramel and marshmallow markings - sweeeeet! He is a bit shy at first but has enjoyed meeting new people. He is working on house training and is clean and quiet in crate when left alone. If you have the time, the energy, the patience and a lot of extra love to spare to help this boy become the very best doggie he can be, fill out an application today! He would love an adopter who is patient and willing go slow with new activities or adventures. One of our out-of-this-world awesome Adoption Counselors will be in touch!
Medical Note: A littermate of this dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. As there is thought to potentially be a genetic component to predisposition to this condition, this dog has been preventatively treated though does not currently show any bald patches and/or thin fur in places. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history.
An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
