This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.
Barbie is a purebred Siberian Husky with a beautiful red and white coat who has been cohabitating with her brother Ken (also available through SOS), other pups, cats, and older kids.
Barbie can be shy with new people, dogs, places and experiences. A potential adopter will need to keep this in mind and go slow, work on socialization, give her plenty of exercise, and provide training and structure as she transitions to life in a forever home. She would do best in a low-key household without much foot traffic, no young children, and lots of patience and treats! She is an absolute sweetheart and the patience and time is well worth it.
She needs an adopter who is committed to keeping her world small until she starts to settle in. The adopter should plan to limit visitors to the home, leave the dog at home (crated – not loose!) rather than taking her to parties, soccer games, dog parks, etc, and focus on building a bond through structure and moderate obedience training.
She is a smart girl that is crate trained and is working hard on house training and walking on the leash, but still needs some practice.
Barbie needs a relatively quiet home with someone who is committed to helping her build confidence and who will expose her to new experiences at a pace she can tolerate. A fenced yard would be ideal so she could run and play safely, but if that's not available she'll need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area.
Barbie is a sweet and happy girl who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make her dream come true? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family!
Barbie's Story: Barbie's mom and dad were surrendered to a high kill shelter, her mom pregnant at the time. Thankfully mom, dad, Barbie, and Ken were rescued and removed from the shelter.
An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see

*Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
