Izzy wants to go on an adventure with you!
This beautiful girl is going to be the perfect addition to someone's home! She is happy to meet and play with other dogs, cats, kids of all ages and all adults - she is just one friendly, outgoing girl! Izzy appears to be a Lab mix about 2 years old with a beautiful smooth and shiny black fur coat.
Izzy is house trained, crate trained, and walks great on the leash. Looking for a walking or running partner? If so, Izzy is the dog for you! She rides well in the car, loves to play fetch, likes toys, and rarely barks. A fenced yard would be ideal so Izzy could run and play safely, but if that's not available she'll need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area. An obedience course would be great for Izzy; it will help teach her good manners and commands, further socialization with other dogs and people, and will help build that very important bond between a dog and her human.
Izzy is a gentle happy girl who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make her dream come true? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family!
Izzy’s story: She is one of several dogs abandoned by their owners when they were evicted. A rescue was contacted and found the dogs hungry and a bit suspicious of people but were quickly won over with a hearty meal. Izzy is now living with a loving foster family and doing great!
Medical Note: A littermate of this dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. As there is thought to potentially be a genetic component to predisposition to this condition, this dog has been preventatively treated though does not currently show any bald patches and/or thin fur in places. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history.
An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
