Hi, my name is Oliver, and I can’t wait to meet you! I am a sweet and happy-go-lucky boy that's ready to join your family. I am pretty sure I am a Shepherd mix around 7 months old. I was abandoned by my former family at a vet’s office who took me in, checked me out, and contacted a rescue to help find me a home. I have a bit of a limp or, what my doctor calls, a slight abnormality in my gait. Not sure what all that means but I do walk a little funny sometimes, but I can still run and play with my doggie friends and enjoy being active...as well as lounging on the couch!  The limp doesn't stop me from being uber sweet with all people!

I am good with other dogs and I'm very sweet with people and children. My AR foster family had four kiddos, ages 7 to 12, and we were best buds!  Cats are ok, but I really don’t pay too much attention to them one way or the other.  I am now living as an only dog in an adult household, and enjoying the calmness but would love to have a doggie buddy again or playdates!  I do really love people and getting pets and treats! I am house trained using a doggie door and am cool with hanging out in a crate where I don’t make a peep and, if I say so myself, am pretty good at walking on a leash, but guess I could always use some practice!

I would love a fenced yard so I can run and play safely. If you don’t have a yard with a fence, that’s cool, I’ll just need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area. You know what would really be cool? You and I go to some dog training classes together, ideally in the first 60 days or so of bringing me home. Group training classes are a great way to reinforce important skills, learn some new tricks, and get some quality socialization time with other furry friends.

I love to have fun, whether it's running in the yard or playing with you, but I'm not all about having fun, as I love to snuggle and give kisses, too. If you are looking for the perfect young dog, please fill out an application for me – Oliver! I can't wait to meet you!

Medical Note: Based upon clinical exam and a recent extensive radiograph study, this dog is suspected of having Osgood Schlatter ("OS") disease, an adolescent condition that typically resolves once the growth plate closes (usually around 12-20 months old). Dogs with OS rarely require surgery and management relies on avoiding excessive athletic activities and symptomatic support during the development phase. Oliver has been started on a daily anti-inflammatory medication and joint support and strenuous activity should be avoided during the remainder of his developmental phase.  For the last two months, Oliver has appeared to be pain free and comfortable participating in all normal/average household dog activities. No further treatment is expected for this condition but cannot be guaranteed.

An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see  HERE  for more information about this.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
