Ingles Effie is a lovely young hound and boxer mix who was found abandoned by the side of the road with his three siblings, who are also available for adoption. Since then, Ingles has been happily living in a foster home with a man, a woman, small and large dogs, and cats. The home is generally quiet, except for the family, but both young and older children visit regularly, and Ingles gets along with everyone. He is a typical playful and wiggly puppy. He likes playing chase, fetch, and tug-of-war, but he also enjoys snuggling with his people or gnawing on a squeaky toy. He only barks when he wants to let you know that he wants to play--or that he needs a hug!
Ingles's crate, house, and leash training are all in the early stages, and he is making good progress. He has been quiet and clean in his crate for up to eight hours. Sometimes, he will zig-zag when he is on his leash, but he is doing well with his training. Like many puppies, Ingles will try to raid the garbage or jump on guests, but he is responsive to corrections and is clearly very smart. He always enjoys going places and meeting new people.
We strongly recommend that all our dogs - and especially puppies - attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, and it also helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and his/her human family. It’s lots of fun, too! Yes, it takes a lot of time, energy and patience to bring up a puppy - and it’s totally worth it!
Ingles is an even-tempered and resilient puppy, and we believe that he is going to be a wonderful friend for anyone who is lucky enough to adopt him.
Medical Note:
Ingles was
asymptomatic for parvo, but he was treated as a precaution, because two of his littermates were symptomatic. The last day of littermate symptoms was 12/10/23. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions about this condition and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.
An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see
HERE
for more information about this.

*Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
