Effie is available for adoption to Massachusetts residents, as well as those in the other New England states.

This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.

Effie Effie is a very sweet young hound mix who was found abandoned by the side of the road with her three siblings, who are also available for adoption.  She can be timid, but that is also because she is such an unusually gentle and calm puppy.

Effie is fully integrated into her foster home, the home is generally quiet.  She is mild-mannered and tolerant, but also full of fun. She likes to play chase sometimes, but she really prefers snuggling with her people. 

Effie's crate, house, and leash training are all in the early stages, and she is making terrific progress. She has been quiet and clean in her crate for up to eight hours and walks calmly on a loose leash. She can be shy, but she always enjoys going places and meeting new people, and she is not at all skittish.

We strongly recommend that all our dogs - and especially puppies - attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, and it also helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and his/her human family. It’s lots of fun, too! Yes, it takes a lot of time, energy and patience to bring up a puppy - and it’s totally worth it!

Effie is very affectionate and eager to please, and she will be a lovely friend for anyone who is lucky enough to adopt her.

Medical Note:  Effie is a parvo  survivor, and her last symptom was 12/10/23. She has had no further symptoms, and we are very relieved that she is okay now. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions about this condition and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.
