This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.

Zorro is a sweet and fun adult husky mix who has been described as "a gem" by his foster parents. He is a very dashing fellow, with one blue eye and one brown eye. He was found at a gas station in deplorable shape, begging for food, and climbing into people's cars. But, despite his difficult past, he has been nothing but charming to one and all.

He is currently living in an active foster home with men, women, older and younger children, and large dogs. Zorro loves everyone he meets, and has no issues with other dogs. So far, he has not been exposed to any cats or small animals. He is considered the town mayor of his foster home, keeping order and greeting everyone he sees. He is very playful, but also tolerant and receptive to corrections. Zorro is always ready for action, and he enjoys playing chase or tug-o-war with his canine pals.

Zorro has some basic training and mostly walks calmly on a loose leash. He is crate-trained and housebroken, except for some isolated incidents of marking. He is also a bit prone to raiding the garbage, but that is no surprise, given his past. Zorro is very intelligent and learns quickly. We always recommend obedience training for all of our dogs, because you can learn commands together and the dog gains confidence. It's also fun for both of you!

Zorro is one terrific dog and should be a great fit for a wide variety of homes. He's an energetic guy, and will be an awesome companion for hiking, running, and other adventures. He is going to be a wonderful friend for anyone lucky enough to bring him home!

Medical Note: Zorro was asymptomatic, but he tested postive for heartworms, and has been treated for heartworm disease with melarsomine injections. Once treatment is completed and the dog tests negative for microfilaria, the dog will be cleared to resume normal activity and able to be adopted. Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future. This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment. A good resource for more information on heartworm disease is: https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see      HERE      for more information about this.

To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:    www.sosarl.org/aa/

*Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
