Yoda Jedi is a lovely young dog who was found abandoned near a baseball field, along with her buddy Luke. We have no idea what breed she is, but she sure is cute! When the two dogs were rescued, Yoda was very skinny and suffering from untreated demodex mites, which resulted in a skin infection and losing most of her fur. Now that she has received medication and loving care, her brindle fur is growing in beautifully and she is quite a striking girl. She can be shy but is bravely working on embracing new experiences.
In spite of her initial health issues, Yoda has been incredibly friendly to everyone she has met. She is currently living in a busy foster home, with an adult couple, three children, and several dogs and cats. While she was a stray, she had been surviving on crackers and apples provided by nearby workers, but she definitely needed veterinary attention and a lot of TLC. She is very outgoing and enjoys playing bitey-mouth and chase with her canine friends. She is interested in small animals she sees outdoors but is easily redirected. She loves toys of all kinds, but her very favorite hobby is eating!
Yoda's training is still in progress, but so far, she hasn't had any accidents in the house, and she has been clean and quiet inside her crate. Sometimes, during the day, she stays in an outdoor kennel pen, which doesn't bother her at all. She is learning to walk on a leash, but sometimes stops and doesn't want to continue moving forward. She gets a little anxious in the car, even when she is in her crate. She has also been known to counter surf on occasion. We recommend obedience training for all of our dogs, because you get to learn the commands together, and the dog gains confidence.
Yoda is a sweet, gentle and resilient girl, and we can't wait for her to find a loving home where she can fully blossom into the happy life she so richly deserves!
Medical Note: Multiple worn teeth, likely from chewing her fur/skin to relieve the itch associated with her skin condition. Also missing a few teeth.
Medical Note: The dog was treated for generalized hair loss with fungal thickening, as well as demodectic mange, and has responded well, but her skin/coat is not fully grown in yet. SOS recommends that she be kept on an oral flea/tick preventative like Bravecto or NexGard for at least the next 6-12 months, possibly for life. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.
Medical Note: This dog tested positive for exposure to ehrlichia while in SOS foster care. This does not mean that this dog had ehrlichia. This dog is/has been asymptomatic while in SOS care and was preventatively treated with a 28-day course of doxycycline. Please see here for more information on ehrlichia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehrlichiosis_(canine). Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.
An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
