Meet Orcus, an irresistible Texas Heeler mix pup with a heart full of love. Her playful spirit is infectious, making every day brighter with her antics. Orcus 's intelligence is clear in the way she learns new tricks and commands, and her sweet nature makes her a cuddly companion. With her friendly disposition, she's great around kids, often becoming their most cherished playmate. Orcus 's joyful energy is bound to bring laughter and warmth into any home. Adopting Orcus means welcoming a loyal friend who will always be there to cheer you up, make you smile, and give you unconditional love. Give Orcus a chance to fill your life with joy and companionship.

Island pup’s story: Their 37-pound sweet and social mom was found as a very pregnant stray. She was taken in by one of our loving southern rescue partners’ and she had her pups 3 days later.

Medical Note:  A littermate of this dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. As there is thought to potentially be a genetic component to predisposition to this condition, this dog has been preventatively treated though does not currently show any bald patches and/or thin fur in places.  Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies.  Please see here for more information on demodectic mange and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition.  Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history.

An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see  HERE  for more information about this.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
