This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.
Kandy is a sweet terrier mix who was surrendered by a man who claimed to have found her, but we strongly suspect that he was giving away his own dog. At the time, Kandy was suffering from skin issues, which have resolved after medical treatment. However, the fur near her tail may never fully grow back.
She is a very sweet girl, but can be hesitant in new situations. She is looking for a quiet adult only home who will be patient. She is very loving and affectionate. She likes to play with the other dogs at the shelter, when she has encountered cats or small animals, she has been scared, but not at all aggressive. She loves toys of all kinds but enjoys cuddling with the nearest person even more!
Kandy is clean and quiet in her crate and has not had any accidents. She walks very nicely on her leash, and she only barks when she is playing. She is food motivated, but in a calm way. We recommend obedience training for all of our dogs, because you can learn the commands together--and it's a great way to bond with your new best friend.
Kandy is a lovely and affectionate dog who will be a perfect fit in many different living situations. Her new family will be very lucky to bring her home!
Medical Note:
This dog has been treated for a skin issue suspected to be flea allergy/dermatitis while in the SOS program. She has responded well to this treatment and the problem has resolved. Most of her fur has grown back already. Please note that skin issues can flare up in any dog in times of stress (for example: transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian.
An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
