Meet Neo and his sister Elsie, young Great Danes with a heart as vast as their breed suggests. These sweet, friendly souls embody gentleness, their every interaction laced with kindness. They are playful goofballs, and their antics sure to bring joy and laughter to any home. But don't let their playful nature fool you, Neo and Elsie are also smart. They are quick to learn, eager to please, and has a knack for understanding human emotions.
They are housetrained, crate trained and walks good on the leash. A fenced yard would be ideal so they could run and play safely, but if that's not available they’ll need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area. An obedience course would be great for these gentle giants; it will help teach them good manners and commands, further socialization with other dogs and people, and will help build that very important bond between a dog and his human.
As gentle giants, Neo and Elsie are a comforting presence, their size belied by soft, gentle nature. They are perfect companions for those seeking a loyal friend who can make every day brighter with their playful antics and loving nature. Adopt Elsie or Neo and you'll gain a friend who will enrich your life with love, loyalty, and intelligence. Elsie and Neo can be adopted separately or together.
Elsie and Neo’s story: They were adopted as puppies and have been enjoying life with their owner ever since. Sadly, their owner recently developed a debilitating illness that is going to require extensive long-term care. The owner and his care givers struggled with the decision but decided the best situation for the dogs would be for them to be in a home with time and space for better lives.
Medical Note: The dog is observed to have mild to moderate bilateral ectropion with the right conjunctiva more visible than left. No epiphora nor blepharospasm noted. Reported to be the same since puppy. No change with Neo-poly-dex opth ointment. No treatment is recommended at this time as there have been no observed clinical symptoms of discomfort, dry eye, or corneal ulcers. This could change over time, as the dog ages and/or as the dog is exposed to new environmental factors. You can read more about this condition HERE With the expanded options and drastically rising costs of veterinary medicine, SOS recommends that all adopters strongly consider acquiring pet insurance as soon as possible after adoption. SOS offers all adopters 30 days of complementary pet insurance with MetLife; this policy must be activated by the adopter after adoption.
An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
