Age: 3.5 years (as of 9/28/24)
Weight: 19 lbs (as of 1/22/25)

This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.

Meet Gus Gus, a gentle soul whose sweetness shines through his shy demeanor. His independence and intelligence are evident in his ability to entertain himself with toys and solve puzzles, proving that he's not just a pretty face but a smart cookie too. He's never been around kids or cats, so his compatibility with them remains a mystery. But his gentle nature suggests he could potentially get along with anyone.

Gus Gus is house trained, crate trained (where he likes to eat his meals), but needs a little work with his leash skills. We think he would do best in a relatively quiet household. He has been living with another dog, Presley (also available on SOS). While the two are pals they do not appear bonded and can be adopted separately. If not adopted with Presley, we recommend Gus Gus be the only dog in the household as he does exhibit some resource guarding behaviors.

Gus Gus is a dog who can bring a sense of calm and companionship to your home. He doesn't ask for much, just a loving family where he can feel safe and loved. His gentle spirit and intelligence make him a unique companion, one who will undoubtedly enrich the lives of those lucky enough to call him their own.

We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, and it also helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and her human family. It’s lots of fun, too!

Gus Gus’s story: Along with his best bud Presley, he has been living with a couple that have recently developed significant heath problems leading them to surrender both dogs.

Medical Note: This dog tested positive for exposure to Ehrlichia while in SOS foster care. This does not mean that this dog had Ehrlichia. This dog is/has been asymptomatic while in SOS care and was preventatively treated with a 28-day course of doxycycline. Please see here for more information on Ehrlichia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehrlichiosis_(canine). Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
