Bark in the New Year Dog Adoption Event on Sat., Jan. 17, 2015,
at PetSmart in Warwick RI, 1276 Bald Hill Rd., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
See you there! ;@
Age: 6-7 Months (as of 1/2/15)
Weight: 20-25 lbs (as of 12/2/14)
Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.
Meet Faith! Faith is a super sweet, gorgeous Hound/Beagle mix puppy. If you Google Istrian Shorthaired Hound and Gotland Hound, that's Faith's "look." We can't be sure, but we expect her to grow to be around 40 lbs.
Faith can be shy and timid in new situations and with new people, but she likes people and wants affection. She loves pets and gentle scratches, and would love to cuddle on the sofa with you - and she is a joy to touch! Her fur is so, so soft, like velvet! She also has beautiful, sweet, caramel eyes! Faith needs a family that will be patient with her and let her come to them for affection. She will bond but she needs to do this on her timeline and with lots of positive interactions. Faith also needs work on her confidence - basic obedience training can help with this, as can teaching her some tricks, and lots of TLC.
Faith gets along great with other dogs, cats and with children. She likes gentle, kind men and women equally. Due to her timidness, she would probably be best in a home with older/calmer children or no children at all. She loves to play! She'll pick out a toy from the toy box and keep herself entertained. She also likes to run around with her foster siblings. House training and walking on a leash are works in progress, and like all puppies, some basic training will be required. Faith is not fond of the crate - we are working on this. She currently sleeps loose at night and usually starts off in the bed, but settles for the night on a doggie bed on the floor next to her foster mom's bed. A fenced-in yard would be ideal so Faith can run and play safely. She is quiet except when she hears/sees a new person on the property.
Faith was found with her sister, Hope, abandoned on the side of a busy highway in Louisiana. They were cold, very skinny and very skittish - it was a miracle that they survived, but they are now safe in foster care. Faith is ready to find her own furver home with a loving family. Wouldn't you love for Faith to be part of your family?
