This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.
Kolby is a very even-tempered, handsome and sweet dog. He is low to medium energy, and just likes to be around people. He loves to snuggle on the couch, and would love to sleep in your bed. He has a very handsome face, and soulful eyes. He is very accepting of other dogs, cats and young children and would be happy to have any in his new home. Kolby can be a little shy of new adults in the house, but warms up quickly and never hesitates to welcome children. We have not observed him to actively play with toys or other dogs, but this might be related to his tooth pain, which we are hoping will be fully addressed by his upcoming root canal and extractions (to be paid for by rescue). Kolby is housetrained, but has occasionally marked in the house; since his neuter, this marking has continued to become more and more rare. Kolby will occasionally "hug" his humans, but he does not jump up and energetic displays are very rare for him. Kolby was found in the middle of the road in an area without leash laws. Off leash he does not bolt, but he also does not have solid recall. He walks fine on a leash and harness, but does pull a little. Crate training is in progress; he does fine in the crate if not left for more than six hours. Otherwise, he may chew the crate liner. Right now, he is only crated for his protection (from the other dog in the house) - he may not need to be crated in his new home. He would do best in a home where his humans are home more than not as he really does enjoy the company of humans. Does Kolby sound like the laid back companion you have been searching for?

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
