Age: 3 Years Weight: 61.7 lbs (should lose 15 lbs)
Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.
Maggie is a loveable 3 year old sweetheart. She is good with all people, kids, and cats. Maggie loves going for runs and exploring in the woods, and loves sniffing out the window while riding in the car. She would love a large fenced-in backyard so she can have lots of off-leash time, complemented by lots of pack walks with her humans. She would love her adopter to be a big hiker/walker/runner/outdoorsy person. Maggie is very smart, eager to please and easily trained; she is house trained, knows basic commands (sit, paw, down and wait) and is clicker trained. She has great manners and was very well trained at one time, she just needs to be reminded what to do. Maggie is a stunning girl - her pictures do not do her justice. She has the most beautiful brindle coat and is so soft, like velvet. Maggie has free range in the house and is not at all destructive when left alone. She's not great in a crate - it stresses her out. She loves to play tug of war and fetch, and to chew on durable chew toys. In her previous home, she was trained to an invisible fence. Maggie is looking for a new home as her owner started to have some medical issues and he could not provide everything Maggie needed. Maggie currently is about 10-15 lbs. overweight; she is on a high protein diet and high exercise program, and this will need to be continued until she is back down to about 45lbs. She's doing great and has exchanged some fat for muscle so though the scale doesn't show a big change, the shape of her body does! She's beginning to look rather svelte! Maggie is interested in other dogs, but can be reactive to them. We are working on this in foster care and expect to see progress. She previously lived with other well-balanced dogs and did well. At this time, however, Maggie is best suited as the only dog in the household.
Maggie is the sweetest snuggle-bug and will make a great addition to many homes - could she be "The One" for yours?
