Meet Cali!  Cali is a very sweet girl with a whole heap of energy!  She loves going for long runs, hikes, or speed walks!  She's also a borderline genius, so giving her plenty to keep that big ol' brain busy is paramount to her being a happy puppy (and you being her happy guardian!)  

Cali needs a home that will give her plenty of exercise and stimulation, as well as clear and consistent structure (rules!).  She would LOVE to be somebody's frisbee catcher, ball retriever, or agility tricks superstar - or all three of the above!  Cali also needs further work on her basic obedience commands.  Cali has had some training on the treadmill - this is a GREAT tool for dogs like Cali to get extra energy out and gives them a "job".  Treadmills can often be found on Craigslist for free (or possibly you already have one that you are using as a coat rack?)  ;)

Cali looooves play time, whether it is with her humans or with other dogs.  Although she's not used to doggie play time and can be a little awkward with other dogs at first, the more exposure she gets, the better she gets at it! 

Cali is as sweet as a girl can be, and she'll quickly wiggle her way into your heart.  She will bond quickly and so much so, that she may get anxious when you have to leave for the day.  Given some time and dedicated effort/training, as well as regular daily exercise, however, she can overcome this anxiety and will learn to be a big girl, happy to snooze the day away until you return.  Cali would do well as an only dog, and would also love to have a PLAYFUL, well-balanced canine companion in her new home; having such a buddy may also help with her anxiety when you are away.   Cali can't wait for someone to teach her all sorts of games and tricks, and take her on new adventures, and give her the understanding, confident home that she needs...will that be you?

Cali's History:  Cali was adopted from SOS last year as a puppy, but she is now looking for a new home because her adopters are not able to provide her with the structure and stimulation that she needs.

MEDICAL NOTE:  Cali is currently on 20mg/day Prozac to help ease her general anxiety.  Once Cali's environment is stable and she is getting the stimulation and structure she needs on a daily basis, this medication may no longer be needed.  SOS recommends that Cali remain on this for at least 2-3 months after adoption placement; this prescription can be obtained at Walmart for $4/month.
