Introducing Heidi, from the "Duke" litter! Heidi and her three siblings look to be a Dachshund/Terrier mix and mom had some Sheltie in her. Heidi is the shyest and the smallest, as she was the runt in the litter. All four of these babies are PRECIOUS!! They are highly affectionate and they love to bounce and play as puppies should, but because they have lived at the city shelter for 8 weeks, they are shy and somewhat fearful of being out of the kennel. A shelter can be a scary place and it's even scarier for a baby Heidi's size. The shelter workers hose the kennels down several times a day, and it is not the most gentle process. These babies are highly social, just not fully comfortable in the "real world." There is no reason why they won't quickly adjust to life outside the shelter, they just need time, patience and love. Like all puppies, they need to be house trained, crate trained and leash trained and most of all LOVED! These pups are going to make phenomenal little additions to any family, but as stated they will require patience until they become more comfortable in their new home. Very hyper, young children might scare them until they settle in - they should be fine with other dogs and cats. If you have the time, patience and love for Heidi, please fill out an application...You are going to love this girl as much as we do!

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence.
