CUTENESS ALERT!
This adorable little baby girl is Helga Piper. Helga is an outgoing, happy girl and friendly with everyone she meets. She is self confident and engaging, she loves to be played with and be around her people.  She can entertain herself for hours with a toy, a scrap of paper, or a leaf, and she loves to crawl onto her foster's shoulders and behind her neck - but not for too long!  She has lots to do!  Helga is a bouncy playful girl, who also likes to take naps who is very quiet.  The most noise she makes is the pitter patter of her tiny paws as she scampers around and a soft whine at first when she is crated for the night.  Helga needs a home with someone who has the time and energy for a young, tiny puppy. She will need obedience training, house training, crate training and most of all lots of LOVE!  Helga's body is still developing and she needs to potty approximately every 2-4 hours.  She sleeps quietly in her crate at night, but needs to be let out once to potty or she will have an accident in her crate.   Helga entered rescue with her three siblings at one day old, along with their lovely mom Piper, who has already found her furever home.  Helga was  born on June 17, 2015.  She looks to be chihuahua mix and will likely not grow bigger than 8lbs .

Medical Note:   In August 2015, Helga and her littermates were very sick and almost died.  Two of her littermates did pass; their diagnosis was coccidia complicated by their small size and potential exposure to parvo while in utero.  Helga is now seemingly fully recovered and doing great as happy, active, adorable puppy.  She has been examined by multiple vets and no issues found.  While we do not expect any future complications with her health, there is a very small chance that she might develop a heart condition or other medical conditions.  Additionally, because of her small size, she should not be spayed prior to six months of age.  As such, we will issue a spay addendum on her, requiring her to be spayed at the age of six months.  SOS offers several options for completing this, one of which is at no cost to the adopter.  Due to the small chance of developing a heart condition, however, it is possible that her spay surgery could be higher risk and/or not recommended at all by the veterinarian.  If the latter, the adopter would need to be committed to being diligent at keeping this dog isolated from other dogs while in heat (which happens on average 2x/year for 10-20 days) for the duration of her life. Helga's full vetting records will be provided to the adopter to review with their veterinarian prior to finalizing the adoption.

**Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label.   Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption.  There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
