This happy guy is Willie!Willie is a very mellow, calm, good natured fellow - the sweetest, most gentle big dog! He's just an all-around super dog who'll likely fit in well in any household. He has small spurts of excitement and playtime, he snores and buries his head on his foster Dad when he wants attention.Willie may be all smiles now, but he wasn't like this when he first came into rescue. He was brought in by an animal control officer after his owners were warned repeatedly not to let him roam. Willie was at large for awhile, he was quite thin and had a lot of fleas with some areas of hair very thin from scratching and chewing. Willie looks to be a Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix who is approximately 3-4 years old. He is the perfect dog to be an only dog, or with other dogs and or kids. Willie was known to play with the kids in town, and beg them for snacks and follow them around. While a stray, he had no bad reports with cats or other dogs, he actually came in with a cohort. Whoever adopts him will be very happy - he's PERFECT! Willie is a great dog who had a rough start in life, but that's all behind him now, he's now ready for a new loving home and a new happy life. Will his new life be with you?
Medical Note: Willie was recently treated for generalized demodectic mange. He has responded well to this treatment, but his coat still has a few thin patches where the fur is regrowing. Willie also had a few teeth pulled recently that were damaged. With this work, he is looking and feeling so much better now!

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
Once we receive this, one of our Adoption Coordinators will be contacting you for review. We are an all-volunteer organization. We do try to respond to each inquiry within 48 hours.
