This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.

Baby is such a BIG love!  She is extremely loving and friendly with every person she meets.  All she wants to do is give you lots of kisses and maybe a hug!  She is very good with the command "sit" and almost knows "down," and we are working on "stay."  She is highly food motivated.  She is learning to turn her jumping into sitting, and the receives praise.  She is smart and quick to learn and very alert, but has a ways to go with all her training.  She needs a gentle leader when going for a walk because she is so big and strong, and needs long or lots of walks to help her release her abundance of energy.  Once she is tired, she is happy to snuggle with you all evening.  She isn't very interested in playing outside in a yard, or with toys, or playing with other dogs, so someone who is willing to jog/walk her would be ideal.  Because of her size and enthusiasm she should not go to a home with small children, as she will very likely knock them over in her excitement.  She likes to stick her nose out the window during car rides.  She is completely house trained, and has never had an accident inside the house or in her crate.  She is somewhat unwilling to go in a crate, she would rather see what everyone else is doing or take over your bed all night, but once she is in, she is happy to stay there for the night.
Baby is very cautious when meeting new dogs. She does not like to be approached face to face by another dog...All her hackles will go up and she will growl.  She hasn't attacked or even really lifted her lips at any dog, but she does get her point across and everyone's attention. If she is distracted by cookies, and the dog comes up along side her and also gets a treat then everything is usually fine, although she will try to steal the treat, which causes other problems.  Because of these issues, it would be for the best if she did not go to a home with other dogs.  When walking she get super excited and anxious.  She will need someone who is strong enough to handle her size and strength, and who can deal with her jumping and pulling, until she is trained out of it.  Whoever adopts Baby will need to commit to a trainer and will need to have a lot of patients until she catches on.  Once Baby gets formal obedience training, she will make a wonderful companion, as she is very sweet and very lovable.  Will you give her the chance to have a loving family and a place to call home?

Medical Note: Baby tested positive for exposure to ehrlichia while in SOS foster care. Baby is/has been asymptomatic while in SOS care and was treated with a 28-day course of doxycycline. A 4Dx SNAP test should be repeated 6 months after completed treatment to confirm negative results. SOS will cover the cost of this test at our RI vet. Please see here for more information on ehrlichia:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehrlichiosis_(canine) .

**Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label.   Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption.  There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
