COME MEET ME!!! Age: 3 Years (aprox. as of 10/17/15)
This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.
This lovely girl is Ivanka. She appears to be a German Shepherd type mix, though with a more compact frame and shorter legs. Right now she's a little thin at 60-65 pounds and should probably be more like 75 pounds. Her previous owner died and the neighbors brought her to the local city shelter. She and another dog, possibly her daughter, were taken on by a rescue group and are now in foster homes. Ivanka has a lovely, calm disposition and is not high-strung like many German Sherpherd Dogs can be. She is friendly and outgoing, and also very gentle with her mouth. She appears to like other respectful dogs regardless of size - she was tested with 15 others. She likes to play with other dogs, but is best suited with a calmer canine companion. She was okay with the cats at the vet's while she was leashed and has not been tested with them otherwise. Ivanka will need some basic obedience training, but should be great in a family setting as she is good about not jumping on people. She hasn't been tested with kids, but given her sweet demeanor, she would most likely be great. A fenced yard would be ideal so she could run and play safely. She will need house training, but should catch on quickly. Ivanka loves to be with her people, but isn't clingy. She rides well in the car and will make a great walking/hiking buddy. Ivanka did have an abscess of unknown origin on her left side when she arrived with some typical hair loss around the site.
