This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.

This handsome dude is Hampton!
Hampton appears to be a Husky/Shepherd mix, about 3 years old, with one blue eye and one brown eye - quite stunning against his beautiful white fur. Hampton was a stray pulled from a local city shelter. He was so emaciated that he had no energy. Well, that's behind him now - he has PLENTY of energy and loves to RUN and play hard with other big dogs! He's typically great with all dogs, but can be aggressive with other dogs over food. If another dog is aggressive with him, he will fight back, but he doesn't hold grudges. He seems to be fine with people touching him while he's eating dry food, but there was one incident where he got ahold of an open can of wet food and growled at the girl who tried to take it from him. He had just been growling at another dog who was trying to steal it from him, so it's possible he mistook the girl for the other dog. Because of his resource guarding his adopter should be experienced with this type of behavior and will need to be committed to working on resolving it with him. Hampton does walk on a leash, but is very strong and will need basic obedience training. He will also need house training as he is currently living in a shelter situation. He's very smart so should do well with all training. He LOVES to follow his foster mom around and jump on her to give her hugs so a home with small children is not recommended as this could knock them down and frighten them. Hampton would make a great buddy for a couple or a single adult and though he likes everyone, he seems to especially like the ladies. He rides well in the car, but does try to ride in your lap so a seatbelt restraint would be a good idea. Hampton's favorite playmate and kennel mate is Daisy Lea, an 18 lb. Beagle. She takes his toys and they chase and play-attack each other which is very funny to watch. Hampton needs a fenced yard and will dig if he's bored. He does love toys and playing with other dogs, but it's no cats for him because of his prey drive. Though Hampton has moderate to high energy initially, after a good run he crashes and loves attention. If you have the time and energy to keep up with Hampton, and can commit to working on his resource guarding and training, then fill out an application today! Don't keep this gorgeous boy waiting for his forever home any longer!

**Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label.   Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption.  There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
