Abby is looking for the perfect family to call her own! Abby looks to be a Bassador - Labrador/Basset Hound mix. Abby was a wonderful, caring mother to a litter of 5 boys and 1 girl (the Grits litter). She is leash trained, crate trained and is doing well with house training. Abby has come a long way in foster care. She enjoys playing with the other foster dogs and loves to be loved on and spoiled. She would originally urinate and defecate in her crate, but now she knows the routine, and has not had any mistakes since then. She now knows how, but much to our dismay, to push open the screen door with her nose and let herself outside. When she is loose, she will not come when called - she does not run off, just sort of wanders away investigating her surroundings. Abby does submissive pee and she will cower when her leash is being put on, but she is immediately fine afterward. Abby does have some hair loss due to allergies and genetics. One of her pups has no hair on his back paws, and this is why the vet thinks it could be genetic. While in foster care, Abby has been only eating grain free dog food along with taking coconut oil. It seems to be helping with her hair loss, as most of it has grown back.  Abby will need a patient family who will let her blossom at her own pace and time... but Abbey is sure worth the wait!

**Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label.   Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption.  There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
