This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.

What a "special" girl we have here! Meet Elena! Elena looks to be a Husky/Terrier mix that is around 9 months old. Elena LOVES to play and she LOVES her toys! She is an active girl and by the way she runs around you would not expect her to be a tripod. Elena had to have her rear leg amputated due to an old unknown leg injury and pelvis fracture and has made a great recovery. Her previous family "rescued" her at 8 weeks old and they claimed that the leg was injured then, but they never sought veterinary attention and allowed the leg to "heal" incorrectly. Elena's family had to surrender her and many other dogs they "rescued" because they had to move into an apartment that did not take dogs. Elena does not let her condition stop her from doing anything, as she can do anything a four-legged dog can do! Elena is crate trained, leash trained and progressing well with house training. She would love to have a home with a fenced-in yard so she can run and play safely. If not, Elena will need lots of walks and taken to a dog park for some off-leash play and exercise. Elena loves all dogs and does well with dog-savvy children. She has not been around any cats, but she can be tested if needed. Elena is a little too big for the lap, but that does not stop her, as she will make herself fit! She is very friendly, very affectionate and very gentle, everyone who meets her falls in love with her. Medical Note: Elena had an unidentified leg/pelvis injury as a puppy; when she came into rescue, her rear left leg was deformed and non-functional so it was amputated. Elena has since fully recovered from the surgery and has no activity restrictions. Please research tripod dogs and longer term considerations before submitting your application on Elena.
