It's LOVE by the dozen! This handsome boy is one of 12 adorable puppies from Pleasant Plains, Arkansas, hence his last name of "Pleasant." Wilbur Pleasant is a sweetheart! He is black with the most white of the litter. He has a white "fan" on his forehead, and white on his nose, paws and chest...he is a handsome boy! He is very friendly and outgoing, and would love to have you as a cuddle companion, as well as a hiking buddy. Out of all of his siblings, Wilbur is the largest and appears the most "houndy" - like blood houndy. He is a pretty serious fella, totally laid back and calm - a very easy going boy. He is doggie-door trained, and has learned that going potty outside is so much better than inside. He has gone on rides before in the car and does well. Wilbur can't wait to join a loving family and join you on all your adventures; if you would like to be that family, please fill out an application today. We promise that you will love him as much as we do!

We strongly encourage basic obedience training for all of our dogs, as it not only helps your dog blossom into a well-balanced canine citizen with good manners but it also helps to form a lasting bond between the dog and humans in the family. The more time and energy you invest into your puppy now, the more likely you will have a great family companion who is welcome at family gatherings and in public for many years to come. Adopters should plan to spend plenty of time playing with your new puppy, training him basic commands, tricks and skills like leash-, crate-, and house-training, socializing him with new situations and dogs, and giving him plenty of free play and working play (like pack walks). A tired dog is a good dog!

Medical Note: This dog was treated for mild localized demodectic [non-contagious] mange with monthly NexGard doses (you may be able to see the small spots in his picture). This dog has responded very well to this treatment and his coat has regrown nicely and fully. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, etc), and is most common in puppies due to the fact that their immune system is not yet fully developed. As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. In general, we recommend that puppies with a history of demodex be kept on a regular flea/tick preventative such as NexGard (monthly) or Bravecto (quarterly) until they are 12-16 months old. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please discuss any concerns with your veterinarian.

**Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label.   Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption.  There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
