This gorgeous senior gentleman with beautiful brown eyes is Ghingas! Don't be mislead by his name or his age - Ghingas is an absolute sweetheart who is full of love and just craving to find his humans. Ghingas is amiable with all people, most other dogs and cats. He does not attempt to interact with others immediately, and may take a few days or weeks to warm up. Ghingas does not appreciate high energy dogs who get in his face, nor rough players. He enjoys the company of other chill dogs, and will run around and play with other dogs once he has gotten to know them. Ghingas is great in the car. He's crate trained but does not like to be crated; he has been left alone free range in the house without issues - he has not been destructive nor had any potty accidents. Ghingas walks on a leash fine and seems to enjoy meeting new people. He has been in foster care for a few weeks and shown to be house trained; he may mark a little in the beginning if there are other dogs in the house, but with patience and guidance, he will pick up on the new household routine quickly. Ghingas likes to play fetch - well, actually he likes you to throw stuff for him, but he doesn't always bring it back. He doesn't need a lot of exercise to burn off energy, but he could stand to lose a few pounds and loves a brisk walk. A fenced yard is recommended so you and he can work on that game of fetch safely, and Ghingas does like to run in the yard. Ghingas is mesmerized by TV, so his only request is that his new people will let him watch TV. Ghingas is affectionate, even-tempered and gentle, and would love to curl up in your lap! Some basic training would be a wonderful way to bond and discover any hidden talents Ghingas may have.
So, what are you waiting for? Fill out an application today and make Ghingas' dream of a forever home of his own a reality!
Ghingas' backstory: Ghingas and his littermates were rescued back in the fall of 2006; while all of his littermates found homes as puppies, Ghingas was overlooked and spent the next 9 years living in the shelter. While the shelter has taken good care of him since then, at his age, Ghingas needs and deserves a home of his own. Since Ghingas has only known a very small world, he would likely do best in a quieter home with a set routine, where he is not expected to adapt to many changes on a regular basis.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
