Are you looking for love, companionship and wet kisses? If so, meet Bailey! Bailey appears to be a Beagle/Hound mix approximately 10 months old. Bailey is a happy, active puppy who loves attention and being with people and playing with other puppies and young dogs. She would make an excellent companion for a lonely fur-kid that is looking for a playful friend, as she's been very playful and submissive with the resident dog at her foster home. She has not been around children, but with her awesome personality we think she will be wonderful. Bailey loves to chew so she will need plenty of chew toys. She does well on the leash, but like all puppies we strongly encourage basic obedience training. This will help Bailey blossom into a well-mannered and balanced canine citizen. The more time and energy you invest in her now, the more likely you will have a great family companion for many years to come. Bailey will need house training, crate training and she will need to continue socializing with other people, dogs and situations. Being a Hound, Bailey would love a fenced-in yard to run and explore with her nose to the ground. Bailey will need to be supervised any time she is outside. She has known to open gate latches and fit under small fence openings and also go underneath a fence if there is any space. If a fence is not available, Bailey will need lots of walks and off-leash play and exercise at a dog park or other safe, fenced-in places. Bailey seems fine with car rides, but so far she has only ridden while crated. Bailey was picked up by animal control as a stray and no one came to claim her. Bailey would love to have a home with a family who will love and care for her forever and in return she will be forever grateful and will repay with her loyalty and love.
Medical Note: Bailey tested positive for exposure to ehrlichia while in SOS foster care. This does not mean the this dog had ehrlichia. Bailey is/has been asymptomatic while in SOS care and was preventatively treated with a 28-day course of doxycycline. A 4Dx SNAP test should be repeated 6 months after completed treatment to confirm negative results. Please see here for more information on ehrlichia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehrlichiosis_(canine).
Please discuss any concerns with your veterinarian.
