SOS is excited to introduce you to Imogene, who appears to be a brown and tan hound mix who's almost a year and a half. This beautiful girl was found as a stray in Arkansas...she doesn't know how she ended up there, but she does know that she would love a home and family to call her own! She has worked hard on her house manners and is house trained, leash trained, and crate trained. Imogene is a champion tail wagger! She rides well in a car and has a very friendly and calm disposition - and she would love to show you how she can "sit" on command! She has been tested with kids ages 6-18 and loves them. Imogene does have a high prey drive and when outside she tries to go after whatever she catches scent of, but is easily redirected when on the leash. She does not like cats and will definitely go after them even if they don't run from her! Like all dogs, Imogene could benefit from obedience class to help her brush up on her manners. These classes are also a great way to bond and get to know your new pup. Imogene is waiting...fill out an application now!!

Medical note: This dog has been treated for heartworm disease with melarsomine injections. Once treatment is completed and the dog is negative for microfilaria, the dog will be cleared to resume normal activity and be adopted. Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs, and arteries, and can effect the dog's health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future. This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment. A good resource for more information on heartworm disease is: https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

Medical note: This dog has been diagnosed with a Grade II heart murmur. No treatment or further action is needed at this time, though further diagnostics and/or blood thinner medications may be pursued in the future. No activity restrictions are needed. Imogene's history of heartworm disease may have played a role in her developing this murmur or not. Grade II is the lowest detectable murmur, and many dogs live with this grade murmur for their entire lives with no issues. This is a good website for more information on this condition: https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/heart-murmurs-in-dogs

Adoption Fee: $425

**Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label.   Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption.  There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
