Oh my goodness! A few baby stars just fell from heaven in puppy form!
Meet the Constellation litter! Here we have Orion, one of the four boys in this litter of five! He's shiny black with lots of white on his chest and chin, and most of his face. These puppies appear to be a Border Collie mix about 3 months old. Being puppies they have so much to learn! They'll need house training, crate training and will need to learn to walk on a leash - these skills are all being diligently worked on. We strongly recommend that all our dogs and especially puppies attend obedience classes, not only because you get to learn commands together and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, but because it helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and his human family. And it’s lots of fun! A well-mannered, obedient dog will be welcomed most anywhere you take him. Though a fenced yard is an ideal place for your puppy to romp and play safely, if that’s not an option then lots of daily leash walks and opportunities to play off-leash in a dog park is the next best thing. A tired dog is a good dog! Dogs of all ages also benefit from mental stimulation – think puzzle toys and games. Puppies are a lot of work and require a strong commitment to teaching them obedience, socializing them with other dogs and people, playing with them and loving them to pieces. It takes a lot of time, energy and patience to bring up a puppy, but it’s totally worth it! Orion is good with his foster's dogs, kitty cat, and child (who's 10 years old). He and his brothers get to barking when they play - typical puppies! He does try to escape the puppy pen, so supervision is advised. Orion is learning to play that wonderful game called fetch and he'll need you to help him perfect it! House training and walking on a leash are in progress, and he's already crate trained.

Someone just dumped this litter in our rescue partner's yard, which is most fortunate because now they have the best chance of finding a forever home with forever loving people! Could that be you? Fill out an application today for Orion Constellation and your star may soon align with his!

Medical Note: This dog was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. The dog has responded well to this treatment. As you can see from his photo, he has just one little spot on his tail left where the hair needs to regrow! Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label.   Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption.  There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
