Crazy for Beagles? Well we have one here just for you! Jake appears to be a Beagle mix that we estimate to be between 18 months to 2 years old. He has a great personality, as he thinks everyone is his best friend. He is great with other dogs, cats and kids. He loves to play with toys and loves to play a good game of fetch. Like most Beagles, he's a great tracker and would love to have a fenced-in yard so he can be entertained by picking up all the different scents. Jake is house trained, crate trained, and although he does not heel, he walks fine on a leash. He is eager to please and somewhat obedient - with obedience training he will be an even better canine citizen. We can't say what Jake's life was like before coming to us, but we do know that he was thrown out of a car and then the car sped off. He is safe with us and all he needs now is a loving home. If you would like to give Jake the loving home he deserves, please fill out an application. We know you will be crazy over him!
Medical Note: Jake was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. He has responded well to this treatment. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.
Medical Note: Jake tested positive for exposure to ehrlichia while in SOS foster care. This does not mean that he had ehrlichia. He is/has been asymptomatic while in SOS care and was preventatively treated with a 28-day course of doxycycline. Please see here for more information on ehrlichia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ehrlichiosis_(canine). Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.
Adoption Fee: $425

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
