Hey, Eddie! Wuz-up?
We here at SOS hear you're looking to find a forever home. Well don't worry, buddy! We've got you covered! This handsome dude appears to be a CHILL Jack Russel/mix (with some possible Cattle Dog in there) about 5 years old. He's not only very classy looking with his mostly white body and brown ears, his foster says, "he is such and easy and loving dog"! Eddie was living in a shelter environment in the south and so we weren't sure if he had any house training - it now appears that he has! He's fine in a crate (sleeps all night without a peep) and has ridden crated in the car with no issues. He walks well on a leash. He LOVES toys, attention, and running and playing chase, especially out in the yard. If a fenced yard isn't an option for you, then daily leash walks and opportunities to play off-leash in a dog park or at doggie daycare will give him the exercise he needs. Don't forget to exercise his mind, too - think puzzle toys and games. Eddie's smart, eager to please and treat motivated - a great combination to ace obedience class! Besides learning lots of cool stuff, you and Eddie can get in some quality bonding time! He'll let you know he wants to play by barking at you and when playtime's over, he's more than willing to settle in and chill with you. He loves cuddling up and wants to be on someone's lap all the time. He'd be a great companion dog. We think Eddie would prefer a mature household, but would likely be okay with a gentle younger child - he would likely be made skittish by toddlers or very active kids. Eddie would probably be quite happy being an only dog if he wasn't left alone for extended periods of time, or with a canine sibling who wasn't a hyper or jumpy dog.
Eddie was found half-starved to death at a hunting camp and was brought to a vet by his rescuers. He's looking quite dapper now and would love someone to play chase and run with. If you're looking for the same things, fill out an application for Eddie today! We'll let him know you're waiting for him!
Medical Note: A small mast cell tumor was found on Eddie's forearm on 3/19/2018; it was removed and biopsied on 3/22/2018. The results of the biopsy show that this mast cell tumor is a Grade 2 according to the Patnaik system (Patnaik, 1984), and low grade according to the recently proposed 2-tiered system (Kiupel, et al., 2011). No further surgery or medical treatment is recommended at this time for this condition, and no other concerning lumps are observed at this time.

Medical Note: This dog has been treated for heartworm disease with melarsomine injections. Treatment has been completed and the dog tested negative for microfilaria. Eddie has been cleared to resume normal activity and be adopted. Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future. This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment. A good resource for more information on heartworm disease is:
