This sweet girl is Abby!
In many ways, she is a typical puppy who loves to do all those typical puppy things: play, chew, play, sleep and play some more! She
is always happy, and is very playful and nicelysocializedwith other dogs. She would do best sharing her new home with a friendly canine companion or two to help "show her the ropes" outside and ease her crate anxiety. She is also living with two cats and does great with them, but does sometimes want to play a little more than they do - she does however respect their corrections. She has been living with two young children and has done very well with them, but may also enjoy a quieter day-to-day lifestyle. She has done well meeting all different sized and aged humans - she is always happy, gets into "wiggle-butt" mode and may jump up a little in excitement
. She
is always ready for action, but is also just as happy to settle in for some cuddling. She spends the night free-range on her dog bed.
Abby has already gone through basic training with her previous family, but is eager to practice those skills and learn more - this
girl is a smarty-pants and eager to please and learn new tricks so puppy training classes will be lots of fun! Crate and house training are in progress, and these have been challenges as she has anxiety in the crate, and also has some anxiety outside with outside stimuli like cars, leaves, and outside noises. Progress has been made, but it has been slow, so she needs her new home to be ready to continue to work with her on both of these skills, and have lots of patience for these things. We believe that having another dog or two in her new home will help tremendously with both of these skills, as well as a routine schedule that allows for frequent potty and crate breaks for the first few weeks/months. A more rural (quiet) home setting might also be best for her, and a fenced yard will likely be essential, at least for the first 3-6 months while she continues to work on her house training.
Abby's left the box she arrived in behind and can't wait to stretch out on a big comfy dog bed! If you'd like to make your home her last stop, fill out an application today! Her people will get right back to you!
Backstory: Abby and her six littermates were brought to the shelter of our Mississippi rescue partner in a box at only 4 weeks old. They were able to drink formula when they arrived so it was evident they had just weened from their mom before they were surrendered. Abby was placed in a loving adoptive home in Rhode Island, but it wasn't the right match so she is looking for a new forever home.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
