Barney Fife is a happy boy!
This affectionate, gentle, and playful guy is tons of fun! We are thinking this handsome dude is a Labrador Retriever mix. He is named after the character from the popular 1960s television series The Andy Griffith Show. Barney in the show was a bit goofy and this Lab is also sometimes a little goofy!
He loves playing with other dogs but we don’t yet know how he is with cats. He is definitely still a pup and sometimes gets excited and jumpy and we don’t recommend for a household with young children. Barney will need a strong and confident adopter that is prepared to give him regular exercise, a structured routine, work with him on basic commands, take him to group training classes, help socialize him to new situations and experiences, and couple all of these things with lots of praise and treats!
Barney is housetrained, crate trained, and walks good on a leash. He is calm in the car and would love to join you for a walk, hike, or run. He is always ready for action and equally happy to chill with one of his favorite toys or you!
A fenced yard would be ideal so Barney could run and play safely, but if that's not available he'll need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area. He is a pretty quiet boy but you might hear him bark to get your attention.
Barney is a sweet and sometimes goofy boy who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make his dream come true? Fill out an application today and let him know that you'd love to have him join your family!
Barney Fife’s story: He was found tied to a tree and when his finders asked around the people said he was a stray that just came up one day and they didn’t have anywhere to put him so the finder requested to take the dog to rescue and they agreed.
