Meet the playful SVU pups

These sweet and smart puppies are ready to be your new best friend! They are an interesting mix – we are thinking their mom is a Lab and Mountain Cur mix and their dad is a Border Collie mix. This large litter is made up of three beautiful girls – Benson, Rollins, and Cabot and five handsome boys – Stabler, Carisi, Tutuola, Cragen, and Cassidy. The pups are named after characters from the popular television crime drama – Law & Order: SVU.

The pups have not been socialized with dogs, other than their parents, but think they will love playing with other dogs as they are so even-tempered and sweet! They love all of us humans including kids and are gentle and playful with their foster family’s 7-year-old child. The pups are pretty quiet but you might hear them bark when playing.

Being just puppies, they will have so much to learn! They'll need house training, crate training and will need to learn to walk on a leash. We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the pup, and a ton of fun for you!

A fenced yard would be ideal so Cabot could run and play safely, but if that's not available she'll need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area.

Cabot would love to find a forever family that has lots of time and patience to raise a puppy properly, and who has lots of extra time for loving and cuddles. If you are looking for a puppy, Cabot (or one of her littermates) may be perfect for you! Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family!

SVU Pups’ story: The litter was unplanned from the owner’s female and the neighbor’s male. The pup’s mom has been spayed to prevent another litter.

Medical Note: A littermate of this dog tested positive and was treated for demodectic mange while in the SOS program. This dog has also been preventatively treated and currently shows no symptoms of demodectic mange. Please note that demodex can have a hereditary component and/or flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a personal or family history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption or until 18 months of age. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/mange-demodectic-in-dogs/741. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
