This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.

Meet Kenyia Barbie, proud mom to Barbie and Ken Barbie adopted through SOS! Kenyia is a purebred Siberian Husky with a beautiful blue/grey/white coat and striking two-color eyes. She has been successfully cohabitating with other pups. She does great with other dogs but is a little too interested in cats. She is playful and responsive to corrections when it comes to kids. Kenyia is affectionate, intelligent, even-tempered, goofy, outgoing, and eager to please.

Kenyia does well in the crate if other dogs are in the room.  She gets a lot of her confidence from the companionship of other dogs; therefore, we recommend she has a canine companion in the home.  She does well crated in the car, and is house trained with frequent trips outside. We recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization for the dog, and it also helps to strengthen that ever-important bond between the dog and human.

Medical Note: This dog is being treated/has been treated for heartworm disease.  Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future. Whenever possible, SOSARL advocates for following the American Heartworm Society guidelines for heartworm disease treatment as the safest and most effective methods; the active portion of this treatment protocol can take up to four months to complete.  Once treatment is completed and the dog tests negative for microfilaria, the dog will be cleared to resume normal activity and will be ready to travel north and be placed into an adoptive home. This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment, and is expected to complete treatment with no complications. Please ask your Adoption Counselor for the specific treatment protocol used for and current status of this dog. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history.
