This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.

Meet Homer, a dog with a heart as big as his personality. We think Homer is a Chihuahua and Dachshund mix, aka Chiweenie. This adult dog is the embodiment of sweetness and gentleness, always ready to share a playful moment or two. His shy nature is endearing, making you feel special when he opens up to you. He is playful with other dogs once he gets to know them, is only mildly interested in cats, and is good with his foster family’s school age kids.

He needs a little work on house training as he may mark, has not spent much time in a crate but is working on it, and needs practice with his leash skills. He is a quiet boy that rarely barks. We recommend that you and Homer sign up for some dog training classes together, ideally in the first 60 days or so of bringing him home. Group training classes are a great way to reinforce important skills, learn some new tricks, and get some quality socialization time with other furry friends.

Homer is a mellow dude, never one for unnecessary fuss or drama. When the weather turns cold, he transforms into the ultimate cuddle buddy, his warmth radiating comfort and love. Homer's easygoing nature and loving temperament make him a wonderful companion. His gentle spirit is ready to enrich the lives of those lucky enough to welcome him into their home. Adopt Homer and experience the joy of unconditional love and companionship.

Homer’s Story: He was one for four dogs whose owner passed away. His three doggie friends found new forever homes and now it’s Homer’s turn.

An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
