Soft-natured and sweet, that's Yentil!
Yentil's story starts out sad - she came from a hoarding situation. An elderly woman passed away and her daughter inherited the house and all the animals. When the house was subsequently condemned, the woman took one dog and left the rest behind. The police went to the house two weeks later in response to the neighbor's complaints of a smell and when they opened the door, starving cats and dogs rushed out. The conditions were deplorable and sadly some animals didn't make it. Yentil herself was full of fleas and had some hair loss. Here's where Yentil's story turns happy...she and many of the other animals were rescued!

Yentil is a sweetheart who, in spite of her previous life, is full of snuggles and kisses. She appears to be a Chihuahua/Dachshund/Rat Terrier mix. This little girl wants to be in your lap and seems to be the type to bond strongly with her person. She's good with other dogs (she prefers ones closer to her own small size though), cats and due to her small size, with respectful kids about eight-years-old and older. She barks at her foster's grandchildren, ages 3 and 6, but they are "kid noisy" - Yentil most likely prefers a quiet home. She's happy, affectionate and playful - soft upon approach, but not at all scared, just really shy of new people. She tends to bark at them. Yentil loves for you to throw things for her! She is already crate trained, is working on leash training and is doing very well with her house training. She rides quietly on the front seat in the car...after you make her get off your lap. She's smart and does know some basic obedience like coming when she's called, going to her crate - or any spot - when told, and what "no" or "stop" means. She's also pretty quiet and only barks to let you know she wants to go out. Yentil will need a family who's committed to continuing her education and socialization so that she grows up to be a well-mannered canine citizen. An obedience class is recommended, not only to help promote bonding and to get to know each other better, but because it can be lots of fun! A fenced yard is recommended for Yentil because of her small size - to keep her safe from larger, not-so-friendly dogs and so that she can run, play fetch, practice her commands and explore safely. Are you looking to add a sweet, young pup to your family? Look no further! Fill out an application today for Yentil! She is so deserving of the happiest of endings!
