This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.
Meet one COOL dude! Balto looks to be a German Shepherd Dog/Husky mix that is estimated to be almost 3 years old. This handsome guy has a beautiful cream and black coat. He is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. Just like the typical Husky, Balto can be vocal. He likes to play and he has a lot of energy. He loves toys and loves to play fetch. He's also happy amusing himself with toys and playing ball by himself.
Balto would do best with an active person or family that is looking for an active dog and/or knows the Husky breed. This sporty boy needs to be taken for walks or hikes and he needs to be engaged in other activities that will help him keep busy while burning off some of his energy. Balto has gone through basic obedience training and he knows the basics, plus he will give you his paw when asked.
He needs a yard to run in and has been known to climb a 6-foot chain link fence, so he should never be left out in the yard by himself. Balto loves children, even small ones. He is good with all dogs, but not cats and he does have a high prey drive.
A neighbor of Balto's owner dumped Balto at a military camp. He was rescued and placed for adoption. His original owner saw him and wanted to reclaim him, but his owner could not properly care for him, so he agreed to surrender him. Balto can't wait to meet his perfect human companion, so they can both start a new life together and take on life's great adventures! When Balto came into rescue in 10/24/2014, he tested positive for heartworm disease. Balto was treated without complications. Treatment was completed in 11/11/2014, and Balto tested negative for microfilaria on 11/25/2015. To learn more about heartworm disease, please visit:
